Rules, Guidelines and Forms for Defenses of Master Theses or Doctoral Dissertations

RULES AND GUIDELINES

Documents for the defense shall be delivered 15 days in advance of the defense

- Qualification examination (with two examiners);

- PR2-DE-05 form (for the approval of the defense);

- Registration of External Members (for members who are not professors of the Clinical Medicine Program and who have not participated in any examining board of this Program)

The documents shall be sent by e-mail, but the qualification examinations of the thesis or doctoral dissertation shall be completed and signed by the examiners and the forms shall be scanned and saved in PDF/A format for submission(guide for conversion).

The place, time and date should be sent by e-mail, as this information will be necessary for the Minutes of the Defense and for disclosure to the other students.

To schedule the room or auditorium at the University Hospital, access the portal http://www.hucff.ufrj.br/ and click on the item “CAE - salas e auditórios”.

The Composition of the Examining Boards shall be

Master’s Degree

5 Members:

3 fullmembers (one permanent of the Program)

2 alternates(one from the Program and one from outside the Program)

Master students shall have the Article in submission format for the defense.

Doctoral Degree

7 Members:

5 full members (at least two members outside the Program)

2 alternates (one from the Program and one from outside the Program)

The Main Advisor will be able to participate in the board as Chairman and will be one of the 5full members.

Doctoral students should send, by e-mail, the acceptance for publication of the article, or the article already published for the defense.
