THE GRADUATE PROGRAMS IN MEDICINE

 The Graduate Programs of the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (UFRJ) Faculty of Medicine aim to train teaching professionals and researchers, develop public policies in health and medical education areas, and promote the university scientific community.

The Stricto Sensu Academic Programs (Master’s and Doctoral degrees) in Medicine of the Faculty of Medicine are currently distributed in seven Areas of Concentration:

• Pathological Anatomy

• Cardiology (in partnership with the Edson Saad Heart Institute – [Instituto do Coração Edson Saad - ICES],

• Surgical Sciences,

• Clinical Medicine,

• Infectious & Parasitic Diseases,

• Endocrinology, and

• Radiology.

There are also the Academic Master in Maternal and Child Health, resulting from a partnership between the Martagão Gesteira Institute of Childcare and Pediatrics (IPPMG) and the Faculty of Medicine, and the Academic Master’s and Doctoral degrees in the Graduate Program of Psychiatry and Mental Health of the Institute of Psychiatry, UFRJ.

Besides these, there are the Professional Master in Primary Health Care and the Professional Master in Perinatal Health Care (both are stricto sensu degrees), due to the partnerships of the Faculty of Medicine with the São Francisco de Assis Hospital School and the Maternity School, respectively.

The Lato Sensu Graduate programs offer six Specialization Courses:

• Cultural Accessibility,

• Dermatology,

• Clinical Immunology,

• Obstetrics,

• Ophthalmology and

• Hospital Psychology,

and two Improvement Courses:

• Internal Medicine and

• Gastroenterology & Digestive Endoscopy.

These Graduate Programs are among the best in the Medical Area in Brazil.
